Why I’m Choosing Intentional Growth Over Burnout

In a Korean film I once watched, a poet, at the end of his life, said something that made me hit pause:

“I’ve been searching for what I’ve lost, without knowing what exactly I had lost, or where.”

That line lingered with me. And by the end of 2025, I realized it described exactly how I felt.

It turns out, I wasn’t alone.

Many of us pour time, money, and energy into learning in-demand skills, trying to stay relevant, trying to contribute. But somewhere along the way, things become heavy.

Responsibilities pile up. Money gets tight. So we start rushing, collecting certificates, hoping they’ll fast-track us into our dream career.

More often than not, the result is the same: a worn-out person who somehow still feels unaccomplished.

We miss the joy of the process – the quiet satisfaction of going from a confused beginner to someone who actually gets it. And we learn, often too late, that certificates alone won’t carry us far.

That realization forced me to rethink how I was growing. I started asking myself: how do I keep learning digital marketing without burning out in the process?

So this year, I’m done chasing vanity metrics. I’m slowing down for lasting growth, for my Ikigai.

Intentional growth in marketing and SEO, to me, means studying steadily, applying what I learn, teaching it, making mistakes, and relearning. It means building habits that don’t leave me depleted on my journey to expertise. It’s about recalibrating my lifestyle, not just grinding.

The few weeks I tested intentional learning felt different (don’t worry, I’ll dive deeper into this in subsequent posts). I could recall things more clearly and explain concepts without fumbling. A sweet sense of satisfaction settled in, and I want more of that. Don’t you?

Maybe you’re also trying to build something long-term in marketing, SEO, or content, while figuring out short-term income, learning mostly alone, and not feeling fully seen in the choices you’re making. If that sounds familiar, this blog is for you.

I started Ikigai Bytes to share ideas, process what I’m learning, and connect with people who value purposeful growth over noise.

I’m curious about you, too.

Are you currently exploring new skills for your career? How has your journey been so far?

I’m genuinely all ears.
